If you walked into my garage right now, you’d probably think I was hosting a secret wine tasting. I promise I’m not – my fiance and I just really enjoy our nightly glass of red wine. Over time, the empty bottles have started piling up, and instead of tossing them in the recycling bin, I figured… why not turn them into something magical?

Wine bottles are surprising versatile, and with a little creativity, they can be transformed into gorgeous witchy decor, spell tools, or even products to sell. If I’m going to enjoy my wine, I might as well find a way to profit off of it, right?
Witchy Way to Recycle Wine Bottles
- Spell & Intention Bottles
One of the easiest ways to repurpose wine bottles is by turning them into spell jars on a larger scale. Fill them with dried herbs, crystals, and scrolls with affirmations or intentions for love, protection, abundance, or self-love. Seal them with wax, decorate them with sigils or runes, and use them as powerful manifestation tools.
2. Wine Bottle Candles
If you’ve ever priced witchy candles, you know they can be expensive. Why not make your own? Cut the tops off wine bottles and pour in homemade soy or beeswax candles infused with essential oils and herbs. For extra witchy vibes, use scents that correspond with intentions – lavender for relaxation, cinnamon for prosperity, or rosemary for protection.
3. Moon Water or Herbal Infusion Bottles
Wine bottles make beautiful vessels for moon water. Clean them out, add a label with the moon phase and intention, and use them for rituals, cleansing, or spellwork. You can also use them to store herbal-infused oils – rosemary oil for protection, mugwort for divination, or rose for self-love.
4. Crystal & Herb Lamps
Fill an empty wine bottle with fairy lights, dried herbs, and small crystals to create a glowing altar piece. These make great nightlights, meditation aids, or spiritual decor for your home.
5. Decorative Witchy Bottles for the Sabbats
I love the idea of decorating bottles to match each witchy holiday. Imagine a Samhain-themed bottle painted with black cats and bats, a Yule bottle wrapped in twinkling lights and pine sprigs, or an Ostara bottle with pastel flowers and eggs. These could be used as centerpieces, altar decorations, or even sold as seasonal witchy decor.
6. Incense & Smudge Holders
With a little DIY magic, you can turn a wine bottle into a stunning incense holder. Fill it with sand or black salt to hold burning sage or pal santo, or drill a hole in the side to hold incense sticks.
7. Spirit Bottles & Protection Jars
Inspired by old folk magic traditions, you can create spirit bottles to ward off negative energy. Fill them with black salt, protective herbs like rosemary and bay leaves, and charms or sigils for protection. Place them near doorways or windows to keep unwanted energy at bay.
Bringing the Magic to Others
While I definitely plan to keep some of these witchy creations for myself, I also love the idea of selling them. People pay good money for handcrafted spiritual items, and if I can turn my empty bottles into something beautiful and magical, why not share them with others?

If you’ve got empty wine bottles lying around, consider transforming them into something enchanting. Whether for personal use or to sell, repurposing them into witchy tools is a great way to combine sustainability with magic.
And hey – if anyone judges you for having a lot of wine bottles, just remind them that you’re simply collecting raw materials for your next creative project. Cheers to that!
