Creating a Career Vision Board with Intuition, Imagination… and a Little Mystery

There’s something brewing in the background of my life lately—an itch I can’t ignore, a quiet pull to explore something deeper, more creative, more me. Like any curious mind with a tarot deck and a wild imagination, I decided to pull a few oracle cards and see what the universe had to say.

The first card was Unicorn—a symbol of purity, magic, and unlimited potential. That felt like a green light from the universe that I don’t need to follow a conventional path. I can carve out something unique, even if it doesn’t fit into a tidy box.

Next came Silver, a card tied to feminine energy, intuition, and moonlight. It felt like a reminder to trust the whispers of my inner voice—the same one that guides me when I binge true crime docs and piece together details like a spiritual detective.

The last card was Dress Rehearsal, which basically screamed: “Try something new!” It’s a card about second chances, bold choices, and stepping into a different role when the old one doesn’t quite fit.

All of this made me think: maybe it’s time to create a vision board—a way to visually map out where my heart wants to go, even if I’m not 100% sure what that looks like yet.

Where Curiosity Meets Creativity

I’ve always been a curious person. That curiosity drew me to true crime, to studying criminal justice, to unraveling the “why” behind people’s actions. That same curiosity also pushes me to ask deeper questions about my own life: What lights me up? What work makes me feel alive?

That’s what this vision board is about—not announcing a career change but giving myself permission to explore.

How to Create Your Own Career Vision Board (Even If You’re Not Sure What’s Next)

1. Set Your Intention

Ask yourself:

  • What do I want more of in my work life?
  • What impact do I want to make?
  • How do I want to feel at the end of the day?

2. Choose a Format

  • Poster Board + Glue Sticks (old school)
  • Pinterest or Canva (digital dreamers unite)

3. Add Inspiring Images

Look for:

  • Visuals that reflect creativity, curiosity, freedom
  • Words that speak to your inner storyteller or truth-seeker
  • Symbols that remind you of your passions – true crime, writing, intuition, or whatever else makes you- you

4. Affirmations to Power Your Vision

Here are some that are especially great for creatives and deep thinkers:

  • ” I am a limitless creator and my ideas flow effortlessly.”
  • ” My creativity is a vlauable asset, and I am proud of what I create.”
  • ” I attract opportunities that align with my purpose and passions.”
  • ” I honor my curiosity – it leads me toward truth and transformation.”
  • ” There is room for all sides of me in my career: the practical, the intuitive, the analytical, and the creative.”

5. Place It Where You’ll See It

Keep your board somewhere you can revisit—above your desk, on your phone background, even as a journal insert. Let it guide your next steps, even if those steps are slow and steady.

Final Thoughts: One Eye on the Future, One Foot in the Present

I’m not rushing into anything dramatic. I still have responsibilities and a steady job that I value. But I’m also giving myself permission to dream, to grow, and to imagine a future where all the different parts of me—true crime nerd, intuitive empath, creative thinker—can exist in harmony.

If you’ve been feeling that same tug, maybe it’s time to make your own vision board. Not because you’re ready to leap, but because you’re ready to listen.

And who knows? The clues to your next chapter might already be waiting—just like in a good mystery.

Stay curious,

Lex
