31 Days of October: A Photo + Writing Challenge — Day 14: My Workspace
There’s something pretty magical about being able to wake up, brew a fresh pot of coffee, and head to work without ever having to leave the house.
No sitting in traffic. No rushing out the door. No worrying about whether my outfit is office appropriate.
Just me, my coffee, my computer, and occasionally a very demanding feline supervisor named Juggy.
And you know what? I absolutely love it.
My Little Corner of the World
My workspace might not be anything extravagant, but it’s where a whole lot of things happen.
During the day, I’m handling permits, paperwork, emails, and deadlines. It’s a job that requires organization, patience, and occasionally wondering why something that should be so simple has become so complicated.
But when my regular workday ends, that same workspace transforms into something entirely different.
It’s where I write my blog posts, create content, research new ideas, and work on building something of my own.
It’s where LexTalk continues to grow, one little idea at a time.
I love that one desk can represent both my responsibilities and my dreams.
The Little Things That Make Working From Home So Wonderful
For me, it’s the little things.
Being able to enjoy my morning coffee without rushing through it.
Having Juggy nearby, whether he’s supervising my work or simply enjoying another one of his many naps.
Being home when the kids get home from school.
Having the freedom to make my workspace feel comfortable and personal.
And perhaps one of my favorite perks? Not having to spend part of my day commuting!
Those little conveniences add up to something pretty wonderful.
But Sometimes, It Gets a Little Quiet
If there’s one thing I occasionally struggle with, it’s the isolation.
Working from home can be a little lonely sometimes. You don’t have coworkers popping by your desk, spontaneous conversations in the break room, or those little social interactions that happen naturally in an office.
Some days, it’s just me, my computer, and the sound of my own thoughts.
Well, and Juggy. Although his conversational skills could use a little work.
But I don’t say that as a complaint.
I genuinely love working from home, and I wouldn’t trade it for a traditional office environment.
It’s simply a reminder that even the things we absolutely love can have their occasional challenges.
And honestly, a little quiet isn’t always such a bad thing.
Sometimes that’s when the best ideas show up.
A Workspace Full of Possibilities
One thing I’ve come to appreciate is that my workspace isn’t just where I earn a paycheck.
It’s also where I’m building something that I hope will continue to grow.
My blog. My YouTube channel. My tarot series. All these little creative projects that started as ideas and slowly began turning into something real.
There are days when I’m tired of staring at a computer screen. Days when the creative inspiration isn’t flowing quite as freely as I’d like.
But then I remember why I started.
Because I love creating. I love writing. I love sharing little pieces of my world and connecting with people who enjoy the same things.
And maybe someday, all those hours spent writing, editing, researching, and creating will turn into something bigger than I ever imagined.
Until then, I’ll keep showing up.
Coffee in hand. Cat nearby. Dreams in progress.
Finding the Magic in the Everyday
If this October writing challenge has taught me anything, it’s that there’s a story hiding in even the most ordinary parts of our lives.
A desk might just look like a desk to someone else.
But to me?
It’s a place of productivity, creativity, independence, and possibility.
It’s where the bills get paid, the stories get written, and the dreams slowly take shape.
And I think that’s pretty magical.
Now I’m curious: Do you work from home? What’s your favorite part about it? Or, if you don’t, would you ever want to?
Until next time, keep finding the magic in the everyday.
