Do you set personal goals for yourself?

If you ask me whether I set goals for myself, you might want to grab a cup of coffee and get comfortable, because the answer is a very enthusiastic YESSSSS!
I am a dreamer. Always have been.
I’m also the kind of person who gets an idea in her head and immediately starts wondering how to turn it into something real.
Some of my goals are big. Some are small. Some involve money, some involve personal growth, and others involve creative projects that probably have me spending far more hours working on them than I’d care to admit.
But here’s the thing about me: I genuinely LOVE having something to work toward.
The Thrill of Accomplishing Something
When I reach a goal, I get excited. Like, REALLY excited!
I share my little victories with my husband, Tony always.
Whether it’s reaching a new milestone on my blog, gaining subscribers, seeing my Pinterest account grow, or making progress on something I’ve been working toward, those moments mean something to me.
They remind me that all those hours of effort are actually adding up.
And then?
Well…
I’m usually already thinking about my next goal.
What can I say? Apparently, my dreams don’t believe in taking vacations.
Big Dreams, Little Victories
One thing I’ve learned is that not every goal needs to be life-changing.
Sometimes a goal is simply publishing a blog post when you’re tired.
Sometimes it’s getting a little more organized, saving some money, paying down debt, or trying something you’ve never done before.
Other times, it’s imagining what your life could look like five years from now and figuring out what you can do today to get a little closer.
I want to grow my blog. I want my creative projects to become something meaningful, and hopefully profitable. I want to travel, experience new places, continue learning, and build a life filled with memories.
But I also want to enjoy the life I’m living right now.
And sometimes balancing those two things is a goal all by itself.
Am I Ever Satisfied?
That’s an interesting question.
I absolutely feel satisfied when I accomplish something I’ve worked hard for. I celebrate it, I get excited, and I enjoy sharing that happiness.
But I don’t think satisfaction and ambition have to be opposites.
I can be proud of where I am while still being curious about where I could go.
I can appreciate what I’ve accomplished without deciding that I’ve accomplished everything I ever want to do.
And maybe that’s just who I am.
A woman with a cup of coffee, approximately 47 ideas floating around in her head, and a never-ending list of things she wants to experience.
A Little Reminder to Myself
If there’s one thing I probably need to work on, it’s slowing down long enough to appreciate how far I’ve come.
Not because I’m unhappy with where I am, but because sometimes I’m so excited about what’s ahead that I forget to look behind me.
There are things in my life today that a younger version of me would have absolutely dreamed about.
And that deserves a little recognition.
So, do I set goals for myself?
YESSSSS!
I set them. I chase them. I celebrate them. And then I dream up a few more.
Because as long as I’m growing, learning, loving, laughing, and finding new things that make me excited to wake up in the morning, I think I’m doing something right.
And who knows?
Maybe the next little goal I accomplish will turn into something bigger than I ever imagined.
Until next time, keep dreaming, keep growing, and don’t forget to celebrate the little victories along the way.
