What’s one piece of travel advice you always follow?

If there’s one piece of travel advice I believe in, it’s this: Don’t plan every single minute of your trip. Leave room for the unexpected.
Don’t get me wrong, I love having a plan! I like knowing where I’m going, what I want to see, and which attractions are worth visiting. But I also believe that some of the best travel experiences happen when you allow yourself to wander a little.
Sometimes it’s a scenic road you weren’t planning to take. A little restaurant you stumble across. A historic building that catches your attention. Or a beautiful view that makes you pull over just to take it all in.
Those unexpected moments can become some of your favorite memories.
Travel Is About More Than Checking Places Off a List
I absolutely love exploring places with history, mystery, and character.
Give me an old castle, a haunted location, a historic landmark, or a beautiful scenic overlook, and I’m happy!
But I’ve learned that traveling isn’t just about how many attractions you can squeeze into one day.
It’s about experiencing the destination.
It’s about taking pictures, laughing, learning something new, and occasionally finding something you didn’t even know you were looking for.
Take the Pictures, Make the Memories
Another piece of advice I believe in is to take the pictures.
Take the silly pictures. The scenic pictures. The family pictures. Even the pictures that don’t turn out perfectly.
One day, those photographs will remind you of a moment you might have otherwise forgotten.
I love being able to look back at places I’ve visited and remember how I felt standing there.
Pictures aren’t just pictures to me. They’re little pieces of my life that I get to revisit.
Don’t Wait for the Perfect Moment
And maybe this is the biggest lesson of all.
If you have the opportunity to travel, explore, or experience something new, take it when you reasonably can.
Not every adventure has to involve a plane ticket, an expensive hotel, or traveling halfway across the world.
Sometimes adventure is just a short drive away.
There are beautiful places, fascinating stories, and hidden treasures waiting to be discovered practically everywhere.
You just have to be willing to explore.
My Final Travel Advice
Make the plans, but don’t forget to enjoy the journey.
Be curious. Take the detour. Stop for the view. Learn the history. Try something new.
And most importantly, make memories along the way.
Because years from now, you probably won’t remember every detail of your itinerary.
But you’ll remember how the adventure made you feel.
Happy travels!
