Let It Fall: Releasing What No Longer Deserves My Energy

Writing Prompt: What Are You Ready to Let Go Of?

Oof. This is a loaded question.

After the year I’ve had, where do I even begin?

If there’s one thing 2026 has taught me, it’s that not everyone deserves a front-row seat in my life. Some people have shown me sides of themselves I wish I’d never seen. Others have reminded me that kindness, loyalty, and respect aren’t always reciprocated.

And quite frankly? I’m exhausted.

I’m tired of the petty drama. The unnecessary bullshit. The disrespect. The people who expect understanding, patience, and grace from me while offering absolutely none in return.

I’ve spent too much time trying to be the bigger person. Trying to keep the peace. Trying to understand people who don’t seem particularly interested in understanding me.

And you know what?

I’m done matching disrespect with endless kindness.

As we get closer to 2027, I’m entering a different chapter of my life. One where I match the energy I’m given.

You show me love? You’ll get it back tenfold.

You support me? I’ll be one of your biggest cheerleaders.

You respect me? You’ll have my respect.

But if you continuously treat me like shit, don’t expect me to keep showing up when it’s convenient for you.

I’m no longer volunteering to be someone’s safety net when they’ve spent their time making me feel unwanted, unappreciated, or disposable.

And no, that doesn’t mean I’m seeking revenge.

It means I’m finally learning the difference between having a good heart and allowing people to take advantage of it.

I believe in karma. I believe in energy. And I believe there are things far bigger than me at work in this universe.

Some battles aren’t mine to fight. Some lessons aren’t mine to teach. And some people will eventually have to sit with the consequences of how they’ve treated others.

I’ll leave those matters to karma, the universe, and the higher powers.

What is beneath my peace no longer deserves my participation.

And maybe that’s what letting go really looks like.

Not some beautiful, peaceful moment where everything suddenly makes sense. Not necessarily forgiveness. Not pretending the hurt never happened.

Sometimes it’s simply deciding that you’ve had enough.

Enough explaining yourself.

Enough begging for basic respect.

Enough being the person who always makes the effort.

Enough allowing other people’s behavior to steal your happiness.

As I look at the fallen leaves scattered across the ground, I can’t help but appreciate the symbolism.

Trees don’t chase after the leaves they’ve lost. They release them when it’s time, stand tall through the cold, and make room for something new.

Maybe it’s time I did the same.

So here’s to 2027.

A year of stronger boundaries, reciprocal relationships, protecting my peace, and pouring my energy into the people and things that genuinely deserve it.

I’m not losing my loving heart. I’m just becoming more selective about who gets to experience it.

And to everything I’m leaving behind?

🍂 Fall away. I’m not picking you back up.

Create the magic, even if that means clearing away a little bullshit first.
