Daily Writing Prompt: What’s something you’ve done that your past self would be proud of?
I think my past self would be pretty proud of me right now.
Not because I’ve made a fortune. Not because I’ve gone viral or built some massive following. And certainly not because I’ve figured out exactly what I’m doing.
Trust me, I’m still figuring that part out.
But because I’m finally doing something I’ve been dreaming about for years.
I’m creating. I’m putting myself out there. And most importantly, I’m actually following through.
From Thinking About It to Actually Doing It
For years, I’ve had ideas floating around in my head.
Starting a blog. Creating a YouTube channel. Sharing my love for tarot, oracle cards, spirituality, and all the little curiosities that make life interesting.
I’ve always loved writing, exploring, learning, and sharing things that excite me. But turning those interests into something bigger? That always seemed like one of those “maybe someday” dreams.
I actually started my blog a while ago.
I wrote some posts, put a little effort into it, and waited to see what would happen.
And honestly?
Not much happened.
There weren’t hundreds of readers waiting to discover my words. There wasn’t some magical overnight success story. Life continued, and somewhere along the way, my little creative dream took a back seat.
But the dream never really went away.
Something Finally Clicked
Recently, I decided something.
I can’t keep waiting for the perfect moment to build the life I keep imagining.
I can’t wait until I have thousands of followers to take myself seriously.
I can’t wait until I know exactly what my niche is.
And I definitely can’t wait until I feel completely confident, because let’s be real, that day might never come!
So I made a decision.
Create.
And create.
And create some more.
Write the blog post. Film the video. Share the picture. Start the series. Experiment with something new.
Even if only a handful of people see it.
Even if the views aren’t impressive.
Even if I spend hours creating something that doesn’t get the attention I hoped it would.
Because every single thing I create is another piece of the portfolio I’m building.
And that portfolio isn’t going to build itself.
Creating My Own Little Corner of the Internet
One of the things I’m especially proud of is finally starting my LexTalk Tarot series.
I’ve wanted to do something like this for years.
I’ve always been fascinated by tarot and oracle cards, the symbolism behind them, and the ways they can encourage us to reflect on our lives.
And now, instead of just thinking about sharing that passion, I’m actually doing it.
I’m writing about the cards, learning along the way, and hopefully creating something that other curious souls can enjoy and learn from, too.
Then there’s my YouTube channel.
Another creative adventure where I’m learning what works, what doesn’t, and how to share the little moments that make up my world.
Some days it’s something funny. Other days it’s travel, history, paranormal adventures, everyday life, or a little bit of magic.
And my blog?
Well, it’s slowly becoming a collection of everything that makes me, me.
My thoughts. My adventures. My interests. My memories. My creativity.
It might not fit neatly into one particular category, but neither do I.
And I’m learning to be okay with that.
My People Will Find Me
This is something I’ve been reminding myself lately.
The right people will find me. My people will find me.
Maybe not today.
Maybe not tomorrow.
But somewhere out there are people who love the same strange, beautiful, funny, mysterious things that I do.
People who enjoy a good ghost story, find comfort in a tarot reading, appreciate an honest personal reflection, or just want to follow along with someone’s everyday adventures.
And maybe something I write will make one of those people laugh.
Maybe it’ll inspire someone to try something new.
Maybe it’ll make someone feel a little less alone.
Or maybe they’ll just enjoy spending a few minutes in my little corner of the internet.
Whatever the reason, I believe those connections are worth creating for.
I’m Planting Seeds I Haven’t Seen Grow Yet
Of course, I’d love for all of this to eventually become something more.
I’d love to grow my audience, build a successful creative business, and maybe even earn a meaningful income doing things I genuinely enjoy.
I’m not going to pretend that isn’t part of the dream.
It absolutely is.
I put a lot of time, thought, and energy into creating content, and I would love to see that hard work pay off someday.
But I’m also learning that success doesn’t always happen on the timeline we imagine.
Sometimes you’re planting seeds.
Sometimes you’re watering them.
Sometimes you’re staring at the dirt wondering whether anything is happening underneath.
And sometimes, without even realizing it, you’re building the foundation for something beautiful.
That’s where I feel like I am right now.
I’m in my planting season.
And while I can’t guarantee what will grow from all of this, I can guarantee that nothing will grow if I never plant anything in the first place.
Dear Past Me, Look at Us Now
If I could sit down with the version of myself who spent years thinking about all these ideas, I’d probably tell her something like this:
You finally started.
You stopped waiting for someone to give you permission.
You stopped telling yourself you’d do it someday.
You’re writing. You’re creating. You’re learning. You’re putting pieces of yourself into the world, even when it feels a little scary.
And no, you haven’t made it big yet.
But you’re doing the work.
You’re giving your dreams an actual chance.
And I think that’s something to be proud of.
Because maybe the biggest accomplishment isn’t reaching the finish line.
Maybe it’s finally having the courage to begin, and then choosing to keep going when nobody’s cheering yet.
Create the Magic
I don’t know exactly where this journey will take me.
Maybe one day I’ll look back at these early blog posts, YouTube videos, and tarot lessons and laugh at how much I’ve learned.
Maybe I’ll have built a thriving community.
Maybe I’ll be earning a living from the things I love.
Or maybe this journey will lead me somewhere I haven’t even imagined yet.
But I’m choosing to believe in the possibilities.
I’m choosing to manifest something beautiful while also putting in the work to make it happen.
Because dreams are wonderful, but dreams need action.
And right now?
I’m creating the magic instead of waiting for it to find me.
I think my past self would be proud of that.
And I hope my future self will be, too.
If you’ve been sitting on a dream, waiting for the perfect moment to start, maybe this is your sign. Start small. Start messy. Start scared if you have to. Just start.
You never know what a little bit of courage and a whole lot of consistency might create.
