Writing Prompt: What’s one silly thing that brings you joy?

We all have those little things that make us happy for absolutely no reason. Something silly, something random, something that probably makes other people look at us like we’re a little weird.

For me? It’s singing along to just about any catchy commercial jingle on TV.

Seriously. If a commercial has a catchy tune, there’s a pretty good chance I’m going to sing along.

It doesn’t matter if it’s advertising insurance, fast food, or something I have absolutely no intention of buying. If the jingle is catchy enough, I’m suddenly part of the commercial.

And the funniest part? Some of these jingles have been living rent-free in my head for YEARS.

I can forget why I walked into a room, but somehow my brain has enough storage space for commercial jingles from 20 years ago. Make it make sense!

Sometimes I don’t even realize I’m doing it. The commercial comes on, the music starts, and there I go, singing along like I’ve been rehearsing for this moment my entire life.

It’s such a ridiculous little thing, but it genuinely makes me happy.

And I think that’s something worth appreciating. Not every moment of joy has to come from a big adventure, an exciting accomplishment, or something extraordinary.

Sometimes happiness is sitting on the couch in your favorite cozy socks, watching TV, and enthusiastically singing along to a commercial about car insurance.

Because life is too short not to enjoy the silly little things.
